(Beginning at age 11)
Modern is a contemporary dance form that has its roots in Ballet. However, as opposed to Ballet, Modern has a different , freer, more self-defining approach to dance that utilizes more natural movement. The movement vocabulary and range of motion used is endless and creative and draws on each student's personal expression. Classes include floor and standing work in the styles of Martha Graham, Doris Humphrey and Lester Horton. Improvisation and creative exercises are also incorporated into class.
* Modern students are encouraged to study Ballet.
"I can see dance being used as communication between body and soul, to express what is too deep, too fine for words."....Ruth St. Denis
